ENRACK 200 kWh Trailer Delivered in the UK

EMTEL Energy has delivered its first trailer-based supercapacitor system in the United Kingdom. The installation was delivered for the film and entertainment sector, where reliable power is often a challenge.

What was The Issue?

Productions and live events need electricity they can count on. In the past, this has mostly meant diesel generators. They get the job done, but not without problems. The engines are loud, they burn fuel constantly, and crews have to deal with exhaust fumes and regular refueling. On top of that, performance can be uneven, especially when power demand goes up and down quickly. For film and stage environments, that’s a serious drawback.

EMTEL’s Answer

To get around these issues, EMTEL designed a trailer-mounted energy storage unit that runs on supercapacitor technology. The idea was simple: give crews a system that can respond instantly to changes in load, run for long stretches of time, and do so safely without the headaches of diesel. For users on the ground, it feels less like operating a machine and more like plugging into a steady power supply that just works.

What’s Inside

The trailer is built around EMTEL’s ENRACK 200kWh, 550V system. It uses 44 ENCAP modules, each rated at 5kWh, to create the storage capacity. Four ENSERVER inverters handle power conversion, backed by sub-controllers, contactor boxes, and a distribution panel. Everything is tied together through the ENCONNECT monitoring platform, which lets operators see system status, load levels, and safety data in real time.

Unlike conventional battery-based setups, this system is designed for a long service life. It can cycle more than 500,000 times and is expected to run for over 25 years. There is also no risk of thermal runaway, which has been a concern with other technologies.

In Action

The trailer is already in use in the UK, supporting both film sets and event operations. It provides stable three-phase power, adapts quickly when demand shifts, and does so without the operational issues crews are used to managing. For the industry, it offers a more dependable option for keeping productions running smoothly.
